The adaptations are set in urban Indian cities: Harold Pinter’s One for the Road in English tells the tale of a man with unchecked power who subjects a family to psychological domination in a single-room setting; Anton Chekhov’s Piano Player (Pianovaadaka) in Kannada\, follows a gifted but unrecognised pianist as he recounts the humiliation he faced at a fancy wedding party\, subtly exploring class divides\, the neglect of talent\, and the quiet resilience of those living on polite society’s margins; Surendra Verma’s Maranopraant in Hindi\, depicts the meeting of a woman’s husband and her lover after her death. \nPunaha Theatre\, based in Udupi\, is dedicated to the art of storytelling through the transformative power of performance.
