SUMMARY:Jazz\, Poetry and Songwriting
DESCRIPTION:Jazz is improvisation. Poetry is expression.  \nJazz poetry is the marriage of these two art forms. Running as a thread through the Harlem Renaissance\, the Beat movement\, and the Black Arts movement\, it was born from the same impulse as the music itself: to feel something and refuse to keep it quiet. \nThis evening begins with a performance of jazz poetry. Volunteers from the audience will then join the quartet to write and perform an original blues song—from scratch! \nJazz the way it was intended to be experienced: up close and personal. \n
