DESCRIPTION:What transforms practice into performance? Production.  \nThe craft of lighting design is as nuanced as it is impactful. Colours\, angles\, intensity all influence the attention of the audience\, the quality of the storytelling\, and ultimately the experience of the entire performance.  \nIn this lecture-demonstration\, acclaimed light designer Niranjan Gokhale will take us through the fundamentals of lighting design for dance. Using short performance clips as well as live demonstrations\, you will witness how subtle changes can dramatically alter the reading of movement. He will take audience questions at the end of the session.  \nFor dancers\, choreographers\, and anyone curious about stagecraft\, this session is an insight into the art that powers the spotlight.  \nThis event is a part of our programming to celebrate World Dance Day 2026\, ‘The Many Lives of Dance’. \n
