Why do colonial histories continue to inhabit everyday life long after political rule has ended? \nDépart is an attempt to understand what remains when an entire chapter of history has passed\, and what is quietly lost when the last voices capable of telling that story fall silent. The film invites audiences to look beyond the familiar narratives of colonialism\, toward the quieter\, more intimate ways history survives in places\, communities\, identities\, and memories. \nThis event is part of a double bill of films exploring French colonial histories\, memories and their lasting legacies.
