SUMMARY:Call Me Ishmael\, Unless the Algorithm Has Other Ideas
DESCRIPTION:For centuries storytelling has been seen as a fundamentally human act that requires not just language and syntax\, but experience and emotion. As AI changes the way literature is created\, distributed and consumed\, its role is increasingly contentious. Is it a convenient tool? A competent collaborator\, even? Or is it set to destroy the very soul of human artistry? \nThis panel will examine the possibilities and perils AI presents to the creation\, dissemination and growth of literature. It will bring together voices representing various parts of the literary ecosystem to explore issues of creativity and commerce\, authorship and ethics\, as they are reshaped by AI. The session will conclude with an audience Q&A.  \nWhat can we do to make sure the things we love about literature continue to survive and thrive? \n
