SUMMARY:A Sunday at the Library
DESCRIPTION:A year ago\, Around the World in 50 Sundays began with a simple idea: that a library could be a space to slow down\, discover\, and share the joy of reading. Since then\, our Sundays have filled with books\, stories\, conversations\, and making\, and most importantly\, the people who have returned week after week to make the library their own. \nAs we mark one year of Around the World in 50 Sundays\, we invite you to join us for a special Sunday at the library\, with a day of theatre\, film\, art\, and making. Come spend the day with us as we celebrate a year of Sundays\, and look forward to many more. \n11:30am – 12:15pm | Theatre | Life is Good (For Ages 3+)\nwith Lakshmi Karthik\, Shobha Ramprasad & Vandana Dugar\nA witty play based on the Indian folktale of Tenali Raman\, adapted from The Thief and the Well (also known as The Thieves and the Well). The story follows Tenali Raman\, the clever advisor to King Krishnadevaraya of the Vijayanagara Empire\, and brings alive themes of quick thinking\, wit\, and outsmarting adversaries. A firm favourite with children and adults alike. \n12:15pm – 1:00pm | Lunch Break \n1:00pm – 2:00pm | Film Screening | Films on Friendship (For Ages 5+)\nA delightful selection of silent short films exploring friendship\, companionship\, and the funny\, unexpected moments that come with it. Curated from Films pour Infants\, the films use humour\, movement\, and visual storytelling to tell their stories without words\, making for an enjoyable afternoon for both children and adults. \n2:00pm – 2:15pm | Break \n2:15pm – 4:00pm | Reading & Art Activity | Circle\, Square and Big Questions (For Ages 6-12)\nwith Prarthana Karthikeyan\nTo close the day\, join us for a reading of Mac Barnett’s Circle and Jon Klassen’s Square\, two simple\, playful stories that leave us with questions to think about. The readings will be followed by a hands-on art activity inspired by the books\, where children work together in groups to discover images hidden within a maze of lines and transform them into drawings or three-dimensional forms. Expect stories\, imagination\, discussion\, and plenty of room to see things in your own way. \nSupported by:\n \n\n\nCelebrating One Year of Around the World in 50 Sundays\nSeparate Sessions for Ages 3+ | 5+ | 6-12\nRSVP here (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSc3lqiyWenXgEjP_xy_2WPuulum4oZMHzoBv2dwAnqVTnf8DA/viewform?usp=publish-editor)\n*Facilitators*: Lakshmi Karthik\, Shobha Ramprasad\, Vandana Dugar\, Prarthana Karthikeyan\n*Event Categories*: Around the World in 50 Sundays\, Film\, Theatre\, Workshops
