Sexy Durga (changed into S Durga for Indian release) is a 2017 indie Malayalam drama, directed by Sanal Kumar Sasidharan.

The film is about the religious divide in the patriachial Kerala society and its effect on a relationship between two people from two different religious backgrounds. it is a short journey that the protagonists, Durga and Kabeer make over the course of one night, trying to reach the railway station. it is never clear what their relationship is but their encounters with several groups of local men, juxtaposed with the Garudan Thookkam celebrations in a nearby village, make for thought provoking viewing and serves up a universe of meaning that tears the mask off the dual-purpose woman-as-goddess trope that patriarchy holds out to women as a carrot and, simultaneously, a stick.

The film has won several international awards in 2017, including Hivos Tiger Award at the 2017 International Film Festival Rotterdam, and the Golden Apricot at Armenia’s Yerevan International Film Festival and also the Best International Feature Film award at the Guanajuato International Film Festival in Mexico.
